Actors Song Joong Ki, Shin Min Ah to Attend
Seoul International Drama Awards
Hallyu stars Song Joong Ki and Shin Min Ah are set to attend the 2016 Seoul International Drama Awards on September 8 at the KBS broadcasting station in Yeouido, Seoul. The red carpet will start at 4 oçlock in the afternoon and the awards ceremony will start at 5:30, according to a report from the Korea Herald.
In a statement released by the Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee, the officials said, "Our hope is that this event, which invites drama lovers from all over the world to share the value of TV dramas, will further raise the global profile of the Korean drama industry."
The organizing committee also added that Song and Shin were invited to the yearly Seoul Drama Awards due to their contribution to the growth and popularity of the Korean culture both locally and internationally.
The event is organized by SDA and the Korean Broadcasters Association. It brings together and distinguishes leading personalities in the global TV drama industry. This year, the ceremony is anticipated to showcase 265 productions from more than 50 countries.
Other international celebrities who will attend the event include Japanese actress Fujii Mina, Taiwanese model-actor Jasper Liu, and American actor Sean Dulake.
Actor Song Joong Ki gained immense popularity after playing the role of Captain Yoo Si Jin in the hit drama series "Descendants of the Sun" opposite actress Song Hye Kyo. The drama, which was aired from February 24 to April 14 topped the ratings and was shown in other parts of Asia. He also starred in the drama "Innocent Man" and movie "The Werewolf Boy."
Actress Shin Min Ah, on the other hand, once again proved her versatility and prowess in acting after she played the lead female role in "Oh My Venus," which she co-starred with So Ji Sub. The drama received positive feedback from the public and is popular in other countries as well. The actress also starred in other hit dramas such as "My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox" and "Arang and the Magistrate."
